Dorchester Stories (2023)

November 2023 - Dominique Chouteau has created a new tableau inspired by her “Dorchester Stories” series. The original installation was the first one we created after our friend Elisa Girard inaugural installation. While well received, the Dorchester Stories 2022 installation was flimsy and suffered from the temperature and humidity changes inherent in an outdoor installation. So, in time for 2023 holiday season, Dominique asked me to build and prime some more solid aka wooden base and backdrops. After some screw ups and redos, I delivered the base and the backdrop (which has removable piece to allow it to be larger than than the opening at the back of the cube) to her and after a quick trip to Blick’s for paint and balsawood, she was done in about a week. She cut balsa pieces for a green base for the gas lamp (an HO rail accessory), a new space ship and a gas tank, which she then painted. The rest of the objects are toys or amazon finds. It will be up through the holidays, and it is a race between husband and Debbie Munson to see who will get the next installation……Octopus and gas tank from “Valentine’s Day”, pterodactyl from “Ancient Things”, little mermaid from “Suppertime”, flying trolleys from “While you are waiting”, gas lamp & dragon from “Blood Moon”, and UFOs from everything!!

Fun video about new installation!
